Pilot Course: Democratic Governance in the Security Sector

5-6 November 2009, State University of Moldova, Chisinau


On 5 and 6 November, CESS organised an additional Training Course in Chisinau, this time especially meant for students of the Moldovan State University. This pilot course was organised by CESS in cooperation with the Faculty of International Relations of the Moldovan State University. In this two-day course the students were trained in the principles of democratic governance and they also performed the role play ‘Purchasing uniforms in Croania’. Both CESS and the University representatives considered this pilot course successful. At the end of the course the students received a certificate. In his introductory words, CESS programme manager Erik Sportel emphasised the importance CESS attaches to working with students, being the representatives of the new generation in Moldova. Given the talent and ambition of the students displayed during this course, one can only foresee a promising future for Moldova.
